Hello, everyone! 😁

We recently launched Hydra Classics and removed Big Picture from Beta.

Since then, we’ve been focused on refining the experience with these new features even further.

Here’s what we’ve been working on over the past week:

Emulator screen redesign

To improve the visualization and usability of the emulator configuration screen, we separated each section into 4 distinct tabs:

Emulator
ROM folders
Memory card backups
Library

Improvements to ROM library scanning

Now, when scanning your ROM library, the progress bar will consistently track the mapping of each scanned ROM. This is especially important if you have folders with several ROMs and want to follow Hydra’s progress in real time.

It is also possible to let the scanning process finish in the background, while you perform other actions in the Launcher.

Installation guides

Additionally, we worked on making the experience of installing emulators for the first time much more intuitive.

Now, it is possible to download emulator installers directly from Hydra.

We also prepared individual installation guides for each supported emulator, to make this first step even more user-friendly.

Game Options screen in Big Picture

In Big Picture, we implemented a dedicated screen to manage your games, where you can select your executable, manage your images, manage your Hydra Cloud backups, remove the game from your library, and more.

Support for more formats

We added more formats for running your games, both on Windows and Linux systems. We added support for the extensions .bat, .cmd, .sh, .appimage, x86_64, x86, .run, and .bin.

Additionally, we also added the possibility to add more than one executable to your game, so it’s possible to tra
